PILOT FOREST SCHOOL PROGRAMME AT CASTLETOWN HOUSE April 2019
We have just completed a successful 6-week Forest School After School Programme in the woods of Castletown. This was our Pilot Programme to test the waters and see if there would be interest and to see how the children enjoyed the programme. We have been having a ball in the beautiful woods just beside the big house itself. We have been making woodland crafts, building dens, making swings, climbing trees, and learning how to use various tools
We had a wonderful 6 weeks in the woods, what a great time of year to be outside and enjoying the seasonal changes. At this time of year, we get to see all the plants come alive again after being dormant in the winter, and the woodland floor is littered with wildflowers, and the birds are active with their young. We can start to really enjoy the improving weather and not freeze to death when we go and play in the stream beside the house, which I think is one of the kid’s favourite activities!
With many thanks for the support from Castletown House, who have kindly allowed us to use their woodland. Check out more about Castletown House.
