We have just managed to complete a 6-week Forest School term with our ongoing After School Group that we run out of Castletown House, in one of the areas of woodland near the big house, called the Pinetum. We were so grateful to be able to manage to run this in September into October, before being hit with restrictions again, we had our safety protocols in place and the use of our ingenious tippy tap, which allows for a safe and hygienic one-touch hand wash even in the woods!
The children were so happy to be in the woods together, chatting, playing, building dens, creating their own fictional worlds, we also did some plant dyeing with elderberries and made elderberry syrup, and we gathered acorns and planted them into a mini tree nursery box.
It has been a real delight to get to come back to the same woodland with the same kids, week in a week out for over a year now and see the changes with the season, there is always something different on offer based on the time of year in the woods.
If you would like your child to book into the next Forest School Programme, please get in touch.
